They keep water out of the post's end grain — where rot starts — and they look better every year as the patina develops. Function first, beauty always.
Why do gates sag?
A gate is a lever hanging off a post. Undersized posts, shallow footings, and light hinges give out over time. We prevent it with heavier posts, proper footings, diagonal bracing, and hardware rated well above the gate's weight.
Can I get a buzz-in gate for my property?
